‘The Cave’ is a Danish-Syrian Oscar-nominated documentary film, directed by Feras Fayyad. The film profiles Amani Ballour, a female doctor in Ghouta, who – amidst air strikes and bombings – is operating a makeshift hospital in a cave during the Syrian Civil War. The film’s footage was shot by three cameramen inside the hospital and smuggled out of Syria. ‘With Syria once again in the news for all the worst reasons, ‘The Cave’ reminds us of the horrors of a situation we have perhaps become numb to and shows us the unforgettable people who don’t have that luxury.’ Los Angeles Times.
