CPH:DOX 2024 – The Expedition to the End of the World / Ekspeditionen til verdens ende

In December last year, the beloved film producer Michael Haslund passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Michael was a close friend of the festival and with his humour, energy and winning nature, he was a beloved member of the documentary community both in Denmark and internationally. We honour Michael with a special screening of a film that encapsulated his adventurous spirit both as a filmmaker and as a human being. ‘The Expedition to the End of the World’ is a true journey of discovery – but in a very modern sense. On a beautiful three-masted schooner full of artists, scientists and ambitions that leave neither Noah nor Columbus much to be desired, Daniel Dencik and his crew set sail for the end of the world: the rapidly melting ice sheet in north-east Greenland. An epic journey where the brave sailors – including artists Tal R and Daniel Richter, and geologist Mimik Rosing – are confronted with a number of the basic questions of existence. Big ideas and big execution, like an old boyhood dream realised in adult company.
